How To Do Large And Small Caps In Word

Please Annotation: This commodity is written for users of the post-obit Microsoft Word versions: 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003. If you are using a later version (Give-and-take 2007 or later), this tip may not work for you lot. Adjusting Modest Caps Text

Small caps are a typographic convention in which no lowercase letters are used. Traditionally, the first letter of the give-and-take appears a chip larger than the balance of the letters in a word, fifty-fifty though all letters are uppercase. When y'all employ the Modest Caps graphic symbol aspect, Word coverts the letters to their proper appearance.

To convert words properly to small caps, you need to go through several steps, every bit follows:

  1. Select the electric current word (or group of words).
  2. Brand sure the first alphabetic character of each word is upper-case letter.
  3. Set the Modest Caps character attribute. (Choose Font from the Format menu. In the resulting dialog box, select Small Caps.)

If you are using small caps text sparingly in a certificate, and so these steps are rather quick and painless. Notwithstanding, if you are using it quite a fleck, then repeatedly performing the steps tin can get tiresome. The following is a macro yous tin can utilise to perform these steps automatically:

Sub MakeSmallCaps()      If Selection.Blazon = wdSelectionIP So           Option.MoveLeft Unit:=wdWord, Count:=i           Selection.MoveRight Unit:=wdWord, Count:=1, Extend:=wdExtend      Finish If      Selection.Range.Instance = wdTitleWord      Selection.Font.SmallCaps = True End Sub

If you would similar to know how to employ the macros described on this page (or on any other page on the WordTips sites), I've prepared a special page that includes helpful data. Click here to open up that special page in a new browser tab.
